Simon Jung began his VFX career as a runner in a small firm and was quickly promoted into a role as a paint box artist/compositor.
He went on to work on music videos, industrial film, commercials and European cinema before joining Weta Digital in 2003 as a compositor on "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King". His credits include "King Kong", "Avatar", "Rise of the Planet of the Apes", and The Hobbit trilogy.
In his current role, Simon oversees the look and development of shots, maintaining visual consistency throughout sequences as well as making sure that the best possible quality is achieved in individual shots.
Simon has been nominated twice for a VES award, in 2012 for his work on "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" and in 2013 for his work on the Goblin Caverns featured in "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey".
Simon’s latest credits include Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy, and more recently Wes Ball’s second installment in the Maze Runner trilogy, "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials".
