Pavani Rao Boddapati
Pavani was first introduced to computer graphics as an architectural visualization tool while studying architecture in New Delhi. As she was so drawn to visual effects in film, she went on to pursue a Master of Fine Arts degree in Animation and Visual Effects from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
She began her VFX career in 2005 at Rhythm and Hues in Los Angeles, carrying out shot lighting and hero character look development work. Following this, she moved into the Lead Lighting TD role, working on Rupert Wyatt’s "Rise of the Planet of the Apes".
In her current role as CG Supervisor, Pavani leads the lighting team, giving them artistic and technical guidance under the direction of the VFX Supervisor. She also establishes the CG production pipeline and collaborates with other departments from design through to delivery of the project.
Pavani’s credits as a CG Supervisor include Peter Jackson’s "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey", "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" and "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies".
