David’s career in Animation and Visual Effects began as a digital artist in New Zealand during the mid 1990's. Over the past 15 years David has worked across a number of digital disciplines, from directing animated children's television to lensing Zack Snyder's animated feature "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole".

Previously David worked with Peter Jackson as a pre-visualisation artist on the ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy, was a Concept Artist on the Oscar winning animated feature "Happy Feet", and a Visual Effects Art Director for sequences on both "Superman Returns" and Baz Luhrmann's "Australia".

In 2006, David directed 40 episodes of the Emmy-award winning CGI animated series "Animalia". David later directed the Television Special "LEGO Star Wars: The Padawan Menace" for Lucasfilm and The LEGO Company.  The project premiered during Comic-Con in July 2011, and resulted in Director's Guild and ACCTA award nominations.    

Making the move into commercials, he directed the award winning Seven Billion Stories and Counting for SBS and US Sydney, and also directed spots for Coca-Cola and Nike.

More recently David co-directed the short film The Polar Bears with John Stevenson ("Kung Fu Panda") for Scott Free and CAA Marketing. David Scott returned to New Zealand in February 2013 to become the Series Director on "Thunderbirds Are Go".
